Astrological Weather Forecast January 2025

I’d like to welcome y’all to my first blog post! I will be experimenting with different formats and styles for a while, but these monthly Astro-Weather Forecasts are likely here to stay ;). Again, welcome aboard and I hope you enjoy the journey we’re about to embark upon!!

We kick-off the New Year with the Mars retrograde in Leo getting very close to perfecting its opposition to Pluto in Aquarius at 1°. In the wee hours of January 1st, the Moon enters Aquarius making the opposition to Mars retrograde and going over Pluto… themes of the opposition might be heightened then and by morning time in the states it’s probably obvious if it hasn’t been already what is developing reflecting the opposition being exact on January 2nd. By the end of the day on January 2nd pacific time the opposition is officially exact to the minute still copresent the Moon in Aquarius. I find it interesting that earlier throughout most of the day Venus has been at the anaretic 29° degree of Aquarius then moves into its exaltation sign of Pisces just a couple hours before the opposition goes exact. There is a consolidation surrounding expressions of Venus in Aquarius resulting in what could be seen as the epidemy of this archetype presently and a shift to an elevated eased highly favorable flavor of Venus being exalted. As Mars retrograde in Leo inches its way to 0° the Moon is at that anaretic degree of Aquarius before gracing Venus in Pisces with lunar presence at 0° reflecting this sign shift again.

On January 6th Mars retrogrades back into Cancer signaling a significant shift in this extra-long drawn-out Mars cycle. Martial themes shift from Solar and fiery to Lunar and watery. Mars already was not a happy camper having to turn around and go backwards when it’s a planetary archetype all about moving forward. Add to that now being retrograde in its fall of Cancer and it’s quite a pouty frustrated expression of Mars. Themes of safety and security, standing up for the vulnerable, defensiveness or passive aggression, and adamantly fiercely nurturing are all possible expressions. Planets in their fall aren’t necessarily “bad” but may have extra challenges to overcome and probably don’t show up in ways they usually would otherwise. Throw the retrograde variable in the mix and we can probably bet things will be extra hard in the martial arena for a while. A positive note at this time is when Mars moves back into Cancer there is mutual reception (planets being in each other’s home signs) between Mars in Cancer and the Moon in Aries showing some sort of support even if squaring by sign. Also later that day the Moon conjoins Chiron in Cancer which could highlight the wounding and healing coming up for Mars and the masculine currently, then the next day the first exact square from the Moon in Aries to Mars retrograde in Cancer could have tensions boiling over.

On January 11th the Nodes of the Moon slip into Pisces/Virgo from Aries/Libra. These signs are where eclipses will occur until the next nodal transition and you will experience a sea change in the areas of life where Pisces/Virgo land in your natal chart. The Nodes of the Moon denote the flow of life circumstances and how they tend to play out. I like to think of them as illustrating the karmic entanglements of this life that are somewhat unavoidable, with the North Node like a magnet and the South Node like a bottomless pit. There are probably some gifts surrounding the North Node waiting to be expressed when ready and some tendency towards stagnation attached to the comfort of the South Node that is kind of our default programming. That being said it’s probably in each individual’s best interest to not get so overly consumed with the North Node they lose themselves or so disassociated from the South Node that one lets go of the inherent gift we came into this life with no matter how latent they can seem. I find it auspicious that at this time when the nodes switch over Mars retrograde in Cancer is trine Neptune in Pisces at 27°, a couple degrees away from the North Node. It’s also curious that the Moon in Gemini is square Neptune at this time as well then will move through the bending (squaring the Nodes) very soon after giving the idea that there is already a development towards the karmic trajectory ahead.

January 18th an exalted Venus in Pisces is conjunct Saturn at 16°. The carefree open loveliness associated with this style of Venus could have the breaks put on it or have a reality check. Another version of how it may show up could be a maturity coming of age time in relationships, beauty, or finances. There are some very intriguing nuances occurring here as well. Saturn rules over Capricorn and Aquarius where the Sun, Mercury, and Pluto are respectively. At this time Mercury in Capricorn is sextile the Venus Saturn conjunction allowing there to be an agreement taking place while the Sun is at the anaretic last degree of Capricorn too appearing as a culminating force at the top of the mountain. Then the Sun will conjunct Pluto in a couple days that could be very powerful and/or just as equally absolutely terrifying. Also, Venus being the ruler Taurus and Libra is ruling over a quincunx from Lilith in Libra to Uranus retrograde in Taurus. Somethings not quite lining up between asserting feminine equality in not accepting subservience and innovations within collective herd mentality though both are still receiving the solidified blessings of ruler Venus with Saturn. In addition, the Moon in Virgo is oppose Neptune in Pisces and trine the Sun in Capricorn while cruising over the South Node… we might not understand the fine print of where the narrative is going but the conversation is still practical in a structural sense none the less. Once the Sun Pluto conjunction in Aquarius is exact on January 20th the Moon opposes Chiron in Aries then conjoins Lilith in Libra reemphasizing the quincunx to Uranus retrograde in Taurus. I highly suggest we are extra consciences and present at the time of this tumultuous sequence bringing up a mix of volatility, trauma, and advocacy.

Over the next several days Mercury in Capricorn activates a grand cross to Mars retrograde in Cancer, Lilith in Libra, and Chiron in Aries. Tensions are high with all these squares lining up but the support coming through these hard angles can create the cornerstone essential to build upon for some sense of structural integrity. On January 25th Venus in Pisces trines Mars retrograde in Cancer at 22° with Uranus in Taurus in the middle sextile them both. Something about this feels and seems great despite the difficulties that have been coming up in the beginning of the new calendar year. Something else occurring now that could be the hidden gems to be plucked at this time are three Yods coming through simultaneously. Yods have been the referred to as the “finger of God” consisting of a sextile with both planets quincunx a third planet pointing to that celestial body. The three occurring at this time will be: the Moon in Sagittarius and Lilith in Libra to Uranus in Taurus, Mars retrograde in Cancer and Uranus retrograde in Taurus to the Sagittarius Moon, and Venus in Pisces and Uranus retrograde in Taurus to Lilith in Libra. How this might play out on the stage of life is contingent on specific context but there’s somethings going on here so might be worth considering.

The month of January ends off with some bangs with Mercury conjunct Pluto on January 28th as the Moon also conjoining these two mirroring the way the year kicked off. Whatever had occurred then approaching the Mars retrograde Pluto opposition as well as developments happening around when the Sun conjunct Pluto could become vocalized at this time. Conversations can be deep with dark connotations or possibly explosive and domineering. The Moon as apart of this triple conjunction ruling over the territory of where Mars is retrograding at this time seems like it could reflect this too. The imagery coming through for me is of a crab snapping it’s claws in defense while backing up into a corner of the rocky tidepools. In a sense if situated in the right crevasse the crab will likely be safe nestled in just far enough to ensure its unreachable for the time being. On January 30th Uranus goes direct in Taurus which signals a breakthrough in its own right. It’s not a full-on stampede as of yet but could be the beginning of one. Finally as we get closer to the midnight hour on January 31st the Moon goes over Saturn in Pisces and is applying to Venus, Neptune, and the North Node all in Pisces. Venus is almost exactly conjunct Neptune at 27° Pisces with both less than 30 arc minutes away from being directly on top the North Node that we’ll dive into the water of as we begin February 2025.
