Astrological Weather Highlights December 2025
This month I’ll make a relatively short and concise overview of several prominent themes coming through December and leading up to the new calendar year. In my opinion these are some of the most important occurrences to unpack. Without further ado let’s dive in.

To start the month on December 4th we have the Full Moon in Gemini at 13° bringing communication, commerce, information, technology, agility, trickery, and duality to full illumination with a sense of culminating completion. A huge component of this lunation is that it lines up with the Sun and Moon at the bendings squaring the Lunar Nodes. By having this signature present sheds light on the karmic tides as an integral shift in the evolutionary process taking place in the mutable signs. Planets on the bendings, especially the luminaries, display elaborations upon the nodal narrative that have been developing and will continue to unravel. This lunation is ruled by Mercury in Scorpio direct still moving through its shadow region at 22° pointing out that what does come through is building upon previous themes. Mercury is engaging the Grand Water Trine that's been present for quite a while and is the last aspect being made in this series. Such an aspect after a long period of it being accented repeatedly demonstrates the final potential of this ultra potent energy and wraps up the fluid flow window to be harnessed. Feel into it, ride the wave, and take a dive while such liquid inspiration is saturating the sky and our lives. With the Gemini Moon’s ruler Mercury in Scorpio trine to the Sagittarius Sun’s ruler Jupiter in Cancer harmony abounds this lunation harnessing the Grand Water Trine. One final note to mention is Mars who is copresent the Sun in Sagittarius is trine to Chiron Rx in Aries letting us know this is also feeding into the healing and treating our individual wounding of assertion.

A main theme of the month will shift on December 10th with Neptune going direct on 29° the anaretic degree of Pisces. Many modern astrologers attribute Neptune to ruling over Pisces, to me there is a certain affinity between the two even if I don’t go as far as to say it rules over it. With the synergistic gift of a last revisit of Neptune in Pisces before the final ingress into Aries speaks volumes to the capacity available now to make the most of the flowing wonder and beauty. The foggy marine layer that’s been present for over a decade this transit hasn’t lifted yet but at least at this point it is a familiar nebulous haze… by now we’ve likely finally found our way navigating it all compared to before being lost in its expanse. The anaretic degree itself is a space of filling the void brought about by the openness that comes from already traversing the entirety of a sign. We’re not quite to the next sign, having all the experience under our belt of the earlier degrees gives a sense of empowerment from what come before and freedom towards what will come next. This is a magical moment in so many ways, soak in that Mercury is at the degree of the previous Scorpio New Moon Cazimi and is also opposite Uranus Rx Taurus giving a push-pull dynamic surrounding mental stimulation and erratic invention coloring this time very much too.

Throughout December there are several planetary ingresses into Capricorn with the first being Mars climbing in to the sign on December 13th. This is the sign of Mars’ exaltation in a Saturn ruled sign so it isn’t afraid to put in the long hours with its nose to the grindstone; it might just be the most workaholic placement combo out of any planet/sign combination. It can be the first to show up and the last to leave plus skipping out on breaks to get more work done. Mars in Capricorn isn’t afraid to bear the burden of carrying a heavy load… but probably expects to reap the rewards and pushes others to do the same.

December 19th is our second lunation of the month with the Sagittarius New Moon at 28°. This is one in a series of consecutive serendipitous New Moons all at 28°, I would highly advise considering these degrees in one’s natal chart. It is ruled by Jupiter still retrograde and exalted in Cancer showing there is supportive mutual reception between the Moon and Jupiter. Jupiter in Cancer is now at 22° currently squaring Chiron retrograde Aries. A big part of this Sag New Moon is reconciling care for others and maintaining security causing tension in contrast to self-care healing the wounded drive and action. How do these affect the Sagittarius house in your birth chart? How might you be asked at this time to reevaluate your philosophy and outward overarching direction around these connotations. Think big, start anew in regard to this and shoot for the stars!! Another important trait at this time is Mercury also now in Sag is at the bendings of the North and South Nodes. This means the Sag New Moon in some fashion will play into the cosmic unfolding of Karma and how such is an influence on the tides of life crashing on to the shore then receding back to reveal the usually covered coastal seascape of our emotional bodies before rushing forth again. Another consideration to be made here with this Sag New Moon is its square Neptune in Pisces at the anaretic last 29° degree and quincunx Uranus Rx in Taurus at 28°. For me the square including Neptune and the New Moon both being traditionally ruled by Jupiter in Cancer show from what is birthed in the lunar realm is also involved in what aspirations can shoot forward in this final go of Neptune in Pisces. Imagine what the dream might hold when applied through felt experience. What begins might not be in line with the latest erratic happens of Uranus in Taurus though could be the creative subtle tension that catapults the innovation and revelation occurring there to new heights.

The last two ingresses we will cover this month will be the Sun and Venus into Capricorn creating a bit of a Cap stellium party since Mars is already there no “cap” loool. December 21st we have the Winter Solstice indicated by the Sun entering Capricorn as the day with the shortest daylight hours in other words the longest dark hours in the Northern Hemisphere. With Capricorn season officially beginning at that time themes will become a lot more Saturnian with the business of attending to constricted rationings while executing the construction of structures put in place to withstand the hardship of the coldest part of the year through determinism. There’s a seriousness and slowness now but that’s not all we’re experiencing as Capricorn is not only the “Mountain Goat”, it’s also known to be the Sea-Goat sporting a fishtail almost like a mer-mammal.
There are several characteristics that come to mind for me with this. For one even though Cap’s MO is sticking to the script and the business of climbing ladders to get to the top, behind this calloused facade is a rather fearful disposition. Such a sense of lack that can be felt in Winter creates an insecurity complex very similar to its sister sign Cancers need to feel safe. Such fear is the very thing that fuels Capricorns plight to pursue the highest hieghts. This brings me to the second characteristic that can be present being a deep sense of spirituality. Coming from the dark nocturnal type signs of Scorpio and Sagittarius- Capricorn follows suite in its own way of embracing the darkness. It is the transition from the very darkest time of the year to the beginning of growing daylight hours. When the fear is embraced, released, and transmuted there is a vast connection to the unseen through faith and connection to spirit. This is where the Sea Goat might go from consumed by material matters to gracefully swimming the ethereal waters of eternity while still manifest on the physical plane. This is perhaps my favorite version of Capricorn and some might say an evolved expression of the archetype. One more variation of Goat-Fish energy I want to make sure to include is Capricorn often being a party animal. All that unwavering labor brought about by the anxiety of feeling so much fear and possible spiritual overwhelm is the perfect storm to prompt escapism and indulging in substances. Many Capricorns I’ve known have been indulgent to the point of excess. On one level there isn’t anything necessarily wrong with celebrating a job well done by having some libation and party favors to unwind for a sense of release. On another level it may be like Pisces in that it drinks like a fish consuming substances to escape fear or feeling too much. It’s a path of outsourcing spirituality to a concoction of “spirits” as a bypass in getting there. It would probably be more like the wise old goat to be weary of how this could derail and distract from realizing greater ambitions and unifying with the greatness of it all.

On Christmas Eve December 24th, it’s officially a Capricorn Party stellium with Venus leaping into the sign. The irony of Capricorn season coincides nicely with great mass indulgence this time of year when we have Christmas and New Years extravaganzas. Though in ways this could be the antithesis of discipline and action towards achievement... it’s more balanced to not take on the disposition of old man Scrooge or the Grouch... instead be cheerful giving more if it’s what you got to give. Notice how the Capricorn stellium comes through for you in the last week of the year and if so inclined reflect on the significance. The Sun is applying to conjoin Mars and Venus is coming up to conjoin the Sun in a triple conjunction but we’ll wait to decipher as an installment in next year’s write up though that energy is very present during the closing week of 2025. It is with great awe-inspiring wonder we will address some main themes of 2026 in the next write up. Thanks for coming along for the ride of 2025!
